Special requirements

• Mature Aquarium

  Highly sensitive to fluctuating organic wastes; must only be added to a biologically mature and stable aquarium.

• Blackwater Conditions

  Requires very soft, acidic water (pH 4.0-6.5), dim lighting, and botanical leaf litter to thrive and mimic its native environment.

• Careful Tankmate Selection

  Unsuitable for general community aquariums due to its extreme miniature size. Keep in a species-only setup or exclusively with other diminutive, peaceful fish like dwarf cichlids.
