Mahiyar ("we", "us", or "our") operates the website mahiyar.com and the Mahiyar mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect your personal data, and describes your rights under applicable laws including the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the UK Data Protection Act 2018, and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA).

Information we collect

  • Account data: email address and display name when you create an account.
  • Tank data: water test logs, fish/plant inventories, and maintenance records you enter.
  • Usage data: pages visited, features used, session duration, and device/browser information collected automatically.

How we use your information

  • To provide, maintain, and improve the Mahiyar service.
  • To send push notifications about your tanks (via Firebase Cloud Messaging).
  • To respond to your support requests and enquiries.

  • To analyse site traffic and usage patterns via Google Analytics.
  • To comply with legal obligations.

Cookies

We display ads on mahiyar.com through Google AdSense. Google may use information about your visits to this and other websites to show you ads that are relevant to you. We earn a small amount of revenue from these ads — this is how we keep Mahiyar free.

We do not sell your personal data. Google's use of advertising data is governed by Google's own privacy policies.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors interact with our website. Google Analytics collects information such as how often users visit our site, what pages they visit, and what other sites they used prior to coming to our site. We use this information only to improve the service. Google Analytics collects only the IP address assigned to you on the date you visit, not your name or other identifying information. We do not combine the information collected through Google Analytics with personally identifiable information. You can prevent Google Analytics from recognising you on return visits by disabling cookies in your browser or by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Third-party service providers

We share data with third-party service providers only as necessary to operate the service:

  • Right to delete: request deletion of personal information we have collected.
  • Right to opt out of sale/sharing: we do not sell your personal information. We do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising beyond what is disclosed in this policy.
  • Right to non-discrimination: we will not discriminate against you for exercising your CCPA rights.
  • Right to correct: request correction of inaccurate personal information.

Data retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. Analytics and advertising data retained by Google is governed by Google's own retention policies. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time via the Data Deletion Request page.

Children's privacy

Our service is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us immediately so we can delete it.

Security

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. All data is transmitted over HTTPS. However, no method of internet transmission or electronic storage is 100% secure.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the service after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
