Special requirements

• Conspecific Visuals

  Unique behavioral trait where pairs may need to see other conspecific pairs in adjacent tanks to distract them from attacking one another. Keeping a group of one male to three females is preferred.

• Strict Water Quality

  Requires highly acidic (pH 4.0-6.0), soft water. Extremely sensitive to organic waste; must never be introduced to a biologically immature aquarium.

• Fry Temperature Sensitivity

  Temperatures exceeding 27°C (80.6°F) have a documented detrimental effect on the survival rate of fry.
