Special requirements

• Specialized Diet

  As micropredators, they often refuse dried flakes or pellets; they thrive on small live or frozen foods like Daphnia, baby brine shrimp, and micro-worms.

• Dense Vegetation

  Requires a heavily planted tank with plenty of hiding spots to accommodate their timid nature and mimic their natural stream habitats.

• Territoriality

  While peaceful toward other species, males can be territorial with each other; multiple males require a larger tank (20+ gallons) with visual barriers.
