Sand Substrate
A soft, sandy substrate is absolutely essential for their natural earth-eating behavior. Coarse gravel can damage gill filaments and cause internal blockages.
Pristine Water Quality
Extremely susceptible to deteriorating water quality and HLLE (Head and Lateral Line Erosion). Requires a mature, over-filtered aquarium with massive 50-70% weekly water changes.
Small Food Size
Despite their adult size, they have small throats and cannot properly ingest large food items. Feed 3-4 small daily meals of fine-grade sinking foods and invertebrates.
