Special requirements

• Extreme Size & Tank Reinforcement

  Can grow to a massive 55 inches and becomes extremely heavy; requires a reinforced aquarium and a minimum of 300 gallons to accommodate its size and high energy.

• Jumping Prevention

  Highly active and strong swimmers that require a heavy, tightly fitting canopy to prevent them from jumping out of the tank.

• Predatory Nature

  Opportunistic feeders that will consume any tank mates small enough to swallow; must only be housed with other very large, robust species.

• Environmental Enrichment

  Requires a habitat with large pieces of driftwood, rocks, and sturdy plants to simulate its natural river environment.
