Special requirements

• Fry Sensitivity

  While adults are adaptable, fry are highly sensitive to changes in water chemistry. Large water changes should be avoided; instead, perform regular but small (10-15%) weekly water changes.

• Leaf Litter & Caves

  Requires structured décor with caves, roots, and dried leaf litter to provide security, spawning sites, and beneficial tannins.

• Breeding Aggression

  Females take on post-spawning care and can become hyper-aggressive. In smaller aquariums, the male may need to be removed for his safety.
