Special requirements

• Sand Substrate

  Essential for natural sifting behavior. Coarse gravel can damage sensitive gill filaments and sonar-like sensory pores on the head.

• Cave-Focused Decor

  Unlike most sand-dwelling Peacocks, this species prefers rocky caves and crevices in shallow water (3-6m). Provide ample rockwork.

• Harem Stocking

  Maintain a ratio of 1 male to 4-6 females. This dissipates the male's aggressive courtship and prevents stress on individual females.

• High Water Quality

  Highly susceptible to waste buildup. Over-filtration and 30-50% weekly water changes are mandatory to prevent disease.
