Special requirements

• Male Aggression

  Males can be territorial toward one another; provide ample swimming space and consider the ratio of males to females.

• Escapement Risk

  This species is an accomplished jumper. A tight-fitting lid or secure cover is mandatory for the aquarium.

• Population Control

  Highly prolific breeders. Use dense floating plants or a breeding box to protect fry, or separate sexes to prevent overpopulation.
