Special requirements

• Broken Lines-of-Sight

  Males are highly aggressive and territorial. The aquarium must be filled with extensive rockwork to create caves and visual barriers to prevent lethal fighting.

• Harem Stocking

  To dissipate male aggression, it is mandatory to stock at least 3-4 females per single male. Solitary females will be harassed relentlessly.

• Locality Isolation

  At least 11 distinct color populations exist (e.g., Ruti Island, Nansio). These should never be mixed in the same tank to prevent undesirable hybridization.
