Commercially bred strains often suffer from genetic weakness and are highly susceptible to Neon Tetra Disease (NTD). Extreme care must be taken to select healthy stock.
Cooler Temperatures
Thrives in slightly cooler water than many other tropical tetras (21-25 °C). Avoid keeping them in high-temperature setups.
