  Thrives in hard, alkaline water; health often declines in acidic or soft water environments.

  Requires ample swimming room, particularly for males, as the characteristic tall dorsal fin will not develop properly in restricted spaces.

  Highly adaptable to different salt levels; can be maintained in freshwater, brackish, or full saltwater with gradual acclimation.

• Fry Refuge

  As livebearers, they produce young every 60-70 days; dense planting or floating plants are necessary to prevent predation by adults.
