Special requirements

• Digging Management

  An active digger. Rooted plants should be avoided; instead, use floating plants or epiphytes like Anubias and Java Fern attached to driftwood or rocks.

• Biological Maturity

  Susceptible to poor water quality. Must only be introduced to well-established aquaria with consistent filtration to prevent stress and disease.

• Visual Barrier Scaping

  Requires plenty of hiding spots and driftwood to manage territorial aggression, especially if keeping more than one specimen.

• Substrate Spawning Sites

  Provide flat, water-worn rocks as potential spawning sites for bonded pairs.
