Special requirements

• Aggression Management

  Lives up to its 'Terror' name; best kept as a single specimen or a mated pair. If kept in a community, the tank must be at least 650 liters with significant visual barriers.

• Water Stability

  Highly sensitive to deteriorating water quality and high Nitrates. Requires a robust biological filtration system and a strict maintenance schedule.

• Digging/Plant Protection

  An avid digger that will uproot most vegetation. Rooted plants are likely to be destroyed; use floating plants or epiphytes like Anubias attached to hardscape.

• Specific Dietary Needs

  Requires significant vegetable matter (peas/spinach) alongside meaty foods. High-protein red meats like beefheart must be avoided as they damage the digestive tract.
