Special requirements

• Fine Sand Substrate

  Crucial for benthophagous sifting. Coarse gravel can damage the enlarged sensory pores on the head or be ingested, causing internal damage.

• Pristine Water Stability

  Extremely susceptible to waste buildup. Requires heavy filtration and consistent 30-50% weekly water changes.

• Harem Ratio

  Stock 1 male with 4-6 females to dissipate courtship aggression. Males are territorial and should generally be the only peacock of their color pattern in the tank.
