Special requirements

• Brackish Preference

  Though adaptable to freshwater, they naturally occur in brackish environments and tend to exhibit better health and coloration with the addition of aquarium salt.

• Cave Spawning

  Requires caves or flowerpots for breeding; they typically spawn on the roof of these structures.

• Paternal Guarding

  After spawning, the male takes on the responsibility of guarding the eggs until they hatch.

• Sexual Dimorphism

  Males are distinguished by their larger, more dramatic fins, while females are smaller and generally exhibit a light yellow coloration.
