Special requirements

• Strict Water Regimen

  Requires high-frequency water changes (often daily or every 2 days) to maintain pristine conditions. Highly sensitive to nitrogenous waste.

• Dietary Fiber & Plant Matter

  Contrary to common belief, wild studies show they consume significant amounts of detritus and plant matter. Avoid heavy reliance on mammalian proteins (like beef heart) which can cause organ damage.

• Vertical Space

  Due to their laterally compressed, tall body shape, the aquarium must be deep enough to allow for full vertical movement.
