Special requirements

• SPS Coral Nipping

  Although considered reef safe, these gobies nip at the polyps or bases of Acropora and other SPS corals, which can severely damage colonies that are not mature or heavily stocked.

• Spawning Tissue Damage

  Spawning in the aquarium is common, but they lay eggs on the underside of coral branches, causing tissue recession in those specific areas.

• Skin Secretion Defense

  Known as the 'Poison Goby,' it possesses toxic or bitter skin secretions as a natural defense mechanism.

• Conspecific Aggression

  While peaceful toward other species, they will fight with their own kind if kept in smaller tanks without adequate territory.
