• Size-Specific Caves

  Requires caves or shells where only the smaller female can fit. The male fertilizes from the entrance by fanning sperm into the cavity.

• Water Stability

  Highly sensitive to changes in water chemistry and temperature. Requires stable, well-maintained Lake Tanganyika parameters.

• Specific Meaty Diet

  Primarily a predator; usually refuses dried foods. Requires live or frozen meaty foods like Artemia or bloodworms.

• Dark Substrate for Black Morph

  If keeping the black color form, a dark substrate is essential to help the fish exhibit its most intense, stunning coloration.
