Special requirements

• Strict Blackwater Conditions

  Requires highly acidic water (pH 4.0-6.5) with negligible carbonate hardness. An RO unit and supplementary acidification are often necessary to maintain these parameters.

• Mature Aquarium

  Extremely sensitive to fluctuating organic wastes. Should only be introduced to a long-established, biologically stable aquarium.

• Leaf Litter Habitat

  Prefers a natural setup with soft sand, driftwood caves, and dried leaf litter, which provides security and essential tannins.
