Special requirements

• Soft Sandy Substrate

  Essential for benthophagous browsing. Coarse gravel can damage delicate gill filaments during the sifting process.

• Biological Maturity

  Highly sensitive to poor water quality. Deteriorating conditions often lead to Head and Lateral Line Erosion (Hole-in-the-head).

• Low-Impact Maintenance

  Thrives with consistent, small water changes (10-15%) rather than large, infrequent ones which can cause stress.

• Dither Fish Integration

  Being shy and a poor competitor, they benefit from the presence of peaceful schooling characids (tetras) to signal a lack of predators.
