Special requirements

• Monogamous Pairing

  Unlike many Apistogramma that prefer harems, A. panduro often forms strong monogamous bonds. There is no need to keep multiple females with a single male.

• Low Flow & Leaf Litter

  Requires slow-moving water and benefits significantly from dried leaf litter, which provides tannins and beneficial microbe colonies for fry.

• Aggression Management

  Can be quite aggressive toward its own kind. If keeping more than one pair, a very large aquarium with plenty of visual breaks is mandatory.
