Special requirements

• Careful Tankmate Selection

  Because it is completely blind, it searches for food by bumping or lightly nipping. Very shy or sluggish tankmates should be avoided so they aren't stressed by this behavior.

• Décor and Lighting

  While not strictly necessary, a cave-style setup with tall rocks, dark substrate, and dim red or blue lighting best mimics its natural subterranean environment and looks highly effective.
