Special requirements
Mature Aquarium
Highly sensitive to fluctuating organic wastes and must never be introduced to a biologically immature aquarium.
Blackwater Conditions
Requires soft, acidic water (pH 4.0-6.5). Decorate with a soft sandy substrate, driftwood, and dried leaf litter to provide tannins and spawning sites.
Breeding Aggression
Females take on post-spawning care and can become hyper-aggressive. In smaller aquariums, the male may need to be removed for his safety.
