  Requires a smooth sand or fine gravel substrate to prevent damage to their sensitive and easily injured barbels.

• Social Schooling

  A highly social species that must be kept in a group of six or more to ensure proper health and natural behavior.

  Prefers a well-planted aquarium with plenty of hiding places to provide relief from bright aquarium lighting.

• Breeding Conditions

  Breeding success is often linked to low water levels and very soft water conditions (dH lower than 6).
